Academy Awards® · Short Documentary

Every day, Joëlle meets her retired friends on the Bain des Dames beach in Marseille. Like in an open-air theater, they laugh, talk about love, sex and aging bodies, and remake the world with the freedom of those who have nothing left to prove.
Festivals & awards · Oscar®-qualifying short documentary 2027
“A meditation on the power of being true to yourself.”
“The jury members all agreed the winning film was a gem. Focusing almost exclusively on a compelling character in the space they had created for themselves, it unfolded into a gentle celebration of a unique individual that also had broader thematic depth. Thoughtful, and with humour, music and skilled cinematography, it ultimately proved to be a meditation on the power of being true to yourself, even if by mainstream social standards you may well be viewed as ‘different’.”
